How Ozone Generation Works

In an oxygen-fed system, the process moves from gas preparation to ozone generation and controlled contact with the treatment stream.

  1. Oxygen

    Prepared oxygen is supplied to the generator under conditions suitable for the equipment.

  2. Ozone generation

    Corona discharge converts a portion of the oxygen into ozone, producing an ozone-containing gas stream.

  3. Injection / contact

    For water treatment, ozone is transferred into water through suitable injection and contact equipment. Air-treatment arrangements use controlled gas contact.

  4. Treatment

    Ozone reacts within the treatment process. Results depend on stream chemistry and operating conditions; residual ozone and off-gas require management.
