Industrial Exhaust Air Treatment

Industrial exhaust treatment must follow the chemistry of the process. Ozone is a possible oxidation stage for selected captured streams, not a general solution for all vapours, gases or particles.

Discuss Your Application

The Treatment Challenge

Exhaust can contain solvents, aerosols, corrosive gases and variable organic loading. Some mixtures introduce flammability or reaction hazards, so characterising the stream is essential before considering an oxidant-based treatment.

How Ozone Helps

Ozone may react with certain exhaust constituents when adequate contact and appropriate conditions are provided. Other compounds react slowly or form unwanted intermediates; testing must evaluate the outlet mixture rather than disappearance of one target alone.

Process engineering

Technical Treatment Approach

Conditioned feed gas supplies ozone only after the exhaust and hazard assessment support its use. An engineered injection and mixing zone provides controlled gas contact. Monitor flow and relevant inlet/outlet contaminants, then manage residual ozone and oxidation products before discharge.

Key Benefits

  • Offers targeted oxidation for suitable captured streams
  • Can complement downstream adsorption or scrubbing
  • Provides a process-specific route for evaluating odour treatment

System Integration

Particulate removal, scrubbers, adsorption, biological treatment or thermal methods may be more suitable for some duties. Ozone integration is considered within that comparison, including equipment compatibility and treatment of secondary pollutants.

Engineering & Automation

Industrial PLC integration may use process-state permissives, HMI trends and exhaust-flow sensors. Ozone alarms, access interlocks and emergency shutdown protect the treatment area; remote monitoring cannot replace local hazard controls.

Available depending on system configuration and project requirements.

Important Design Considerations

Actual exhaust composition, flow, contaminant load and emission-treatment objectives govern dose, residence time, mixing efficiency and performance. Evaluate incompatible or combustible mixtures, reaction by-products and residual ozone before committing to a treatment configuration.
